Bittium Tough Comnode™

Bittium Tough Comnode is a versatile and rugged terminal and IP communication device for tactical networks. 

The device fulfils the data transfer needs for mobile troops for example as

  • SIP/VoIP phone
  • IP router
  • SHDSL repeater/modem

Bittium Tough Comnode provides also SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) server functionalities of the tactical voice network for commercial VoIP terminals and enables using also legacy Combat Net Radios (CNR) as part of the IP-based tactical communication system (Radio over IP, RoIP).

The versatility of Bittium Tough Comnode enables the device to act as a terminal, switch and router. The use case examples include:

  • Rugged VoIP phone in military vehicles or in the field
  • Rugged field phone with SHDSL modem, Bittium Tough VoIP Service integrated
  • Blue force tracking application for legacy CNR radio
  • Gateway between CNR radio network and VoIP service
  • SHDSL network access point
  • Fully independent tactical IP network using SHDSL and Ethernet connections
