Overview

The digitalization of battlefield and a wide variety of operations with modern command and control (C2) applications, sensors and real time situation awareness have set an increasing need for high-data-rate and mobile networks in tactical use. Best connectivity and throughput can be achieved with the fully IP compatible network Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network.

The product enables systems integrators to enlarge their product portfolio and gives defense authorities access to a state-of-the-art software defined radio based wireless IP broadband solution for tactical communications – to meet the need for growing data rates in the field. Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network can improve tactical data link and backbone network performance with more flexible network configurations.

Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network™ (TAC WIN)

With the software defined radio (SDR) based Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network battlegroups can create high-data-rate wireless IP networks as backbone to support command and control (C2) data transmission during military operations. Flexibility to use the Bittium solution in different frequency bands and network structures provides cost effectiveness, ease of use and efficiency compared to existing tactical data link networks.

The Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network is a stand-alone wireless broadband military/authority network that can be deployed in any location. It enables the formation of an independent IP network and is compatible with existing infrastructure, both wire-line and wireless.

Being based on software defined radio (SDR) makes the product versatile, upgradeable and easy to adapt. It enables a mesh network solution with high-data-rate and automatic network configuration required by battlegroups on the move.

Bittium TAC WIN has an excellent performance and form factor as both network node and router functionality are integrated into a single product. This tactical communications product was developed to be compatible with the SCA and ESSOR software architectures.

Bittium TAC WIN Tactical Router™

Bittium TAC WIN Tactical Router is the system's routing and radio baseband processing unit running the Bittium TAC WIN Waveform, which offers reliable high performance network in versatile and demanding environments. It provides highly reliable platform for MANET network's several tens of nodes, Point-to-Multipoint access networks and robust Radio link networks. Bittium TAC WIN Waveform supports several services, such as Multicasting and QoS, and provides a reliable development platform for upcoming applications.

Bittium TAC WIN Radio Head III units are used for creating Bittium TAC WIN Point-to-Multipoint network, which provides ideal solution for access networks to provide services from link network to Bittium TAC WIN MANET. When more performance is needed, Bittium TAC WIN Point-to-Multipoint nodes can be used in link configuration. Bittium TAC WIN Point-to-Multipoint network utilizes MANET network's self-healing characteristics such as optimized routing and link control to provide best possible reliability.

Bittium Tactical LTE Access Point™

The Bittium Tactical LTE Access Point is a connectivity option providing wireless LTE access to Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network (TAC WIN) and bringing the high-speed multimedia data and VoIP services for troops in the field at a reasonable cost. Bittium Tactical LTE Access Point supports off-the-shelf LTE devices as well as rugged special terminals to be used in the battlefield.
