Bittium Exhibits EEG Monitoring Solution for Acute and Intensive Care at the APICS 2022 event in Singapore

Oulu, Finland, August 19, 2022 – Bittium exhibits its innovative Bittium BrainStatus™ EEG monitoring solution at the APICS 2022 congress. APICS, the Asia Pacific Intensive Care Symposium, is an international intensive care conference held in Singapore on 20-22 August 2022.

At the ICU, alongside monitoring other vitals such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, temperature, and oxygen saturation, continuous EEG monitoring is an important method for assessing consciousness and the mental state of the patient. It helps detect, for example, nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE), where the rapid initiation of treatment is crucial to prevent permanent neurological impairment.

According to the Class I recommendation by the American Heart Association, EEG should be promptly performed and interpreted for the diagnosis of seizures in all comatose patients after the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) [1]. In the past, timely and rapidly initiated EEG measurements have not been easy to implement, due to the requirement for specialized personnel and the lack of quickly applicable EEG measurement solutions. Bittium BrainStatus™ enables a rapid and timely high-quality EEG measurement for a large number of ICU patients in practice, any time of the day or any day of the week.

Bittium BrainStatus™ is a wireless compact EEG amplifier that is used together with a disposable, easy, and quick-to-wear Bittium BrainStatus electrode headband, allowing rapid initiation of EEG measurements by nursing personnel. Bittium BrainStatus™ has a Cerenion C-Trend® analysis solution integrated, helping to analyse the EEG data effectively. Bittium BrainStatus™ is class 2a CE certified, and while used together with Cerenion C-Trend® analysis solution, class 2b CE certified medical system in the European Union (EU). With the help of Cerenion C-Trend® analysis, the brain's state numeric values are displayed also as simple-to-interpret trend curves by making use of machine-learning algorithms and artificial intelligence. The solution aims to improve care and ease the work of health care staff in intensive care units.

Bittium Medical Technologies team will be at stand B14 at the event.
