Bittium Tough SDR™ product family

Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular belongs to the new Bittium Tough SDR product family that consists of two advanced tactical radio products meant for military use:


With the radios it is possible to bring broadband data transfer and voice to all mobile troops starting from brigade level and all the way across the battlefield. 

The radios are designed to endure even the harshest conditions and they can be easily installed in different surroundings. The devices are easy to use and have several interfaces for connecting them with other equipment. The radios utilize also the latest mobile technologies.

The new radios are compatible with Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network™ (TAC WIN) and expand Bittium's tactical communications product offering from broadband tactical mobile IP backbone network to individual soldier and vehicular level tactical radios.

The 2-channel Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular is a Software Defined Radio (SDR) based tactical vehicular radio.

With Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular military troops can communicate securely over narrowband and wideband waveforms. The radio flexibly uses the most appropriate waveform with the best fit with the conditions and the mission, and even two waveforms simultaneously.

Also legacy and national proprietary waveforms can be seamlessly ported with national COMSEC and TRANSEC.




  • Bittium TAC WIN Waveform™ connects the user as a part of the tactical broadband network that enables transmitting calls, messages and data in real time throughout the whole network.
  • ESSOR High Data Rate Waveform enables broadband data transfer, cooperation and direct communications also between different national troops in international joint operations, starting already from the patrol level.
  • Bittium Narrowband Waveform™ enables transmitting and receiving voice and messages from command network reliably even with long communication ranges and in congested networks.
