The digitalization of the battlefield and a wide variety of operations with modern command and control (C2) applications, sensors and requirement for real-time situational awareness have set an increasing need for IP-based, high-data-rate networks in tactical use.

High-Data-Rate Wireless IP Backbone Network

With the Software Defined Radio based Bittium Tactical Wireless IP Network™ system it is possible to create high-data-rate networks, including MANET, Point-to-Multipoint, Point-to-Point, that come together as backbone to support command and control data transmission. The network can be extended to lower echelons with Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular and Handheld radios that can use the same TAC WIN Waveform. 

Connectivity for Combat Vehicles

With the two-channel Bittium Tough SDR Vehicular™ radio it is possible to bring broadband data and voice to all mobile troops starting from brigade level and across the battlefield. The radios can also be used to extend the Bittium TAC WIN network to lower echelons of the battlefield. 

Narrowband and Broadband Connectivity for Dismounted Soldiers

Bittium Tough SDR Handheld™ radio provides communications and connectivity for dismounted soldiers, such as squad or platoon leader. In addition to the TAC WIN Waveform, the  Tough SDR Handheld and Vehicular radios can use the ESSOR waveform and Narrowband waveform.

IP Communication, Switching and Routing

The tactical IP networks can be further enhanced with versatile and rugged Bittium Tough Comnode™ devices for communication and data transfer.

Bittium Tough VoIP Service™ can be run on the Comnode device, and also on Tough SDR radios and TAC WIN Tactical Router, to provide a distributed, self-healing VoIP service for the network. The Comnode device also enables using legacy Combat Net Radios as part of the IP based network.

Distributed Voice Service for Tactical IP Networks

With Bittium Tough VoIP Service™ it is possible to create a highly resilient, distributed digital voice service for tactical IP networks. It integrates seamlessly into Bittium's tactical networks, and can be easily integrated also to 3rd party SIP based VoIP services and phones.

Stand-Alone LTE Hotspot for the Battlefield

The stand-alone LTE hotspot, Bittium Tactical LTE Access Point, brings high-speed multimedia data and VoIP services for troops in the field. It enables use of multiple parallel LTE hotspots and integrates seamlessly to any IP network. It supports both off-the-shelf LTE devices as well as special terminals such as the secure and strong Bittium Tough Mobile™ LTE smartphone.
