CES 2021: Bittium Showcases Intelligent, Personalized Vehicle HMI and Secure Fleet Management Solutions on Android™ Automotive Platform

Bittium demonstrates adaptive, AI enhanced reference design in the virtual event

Oulu, Finland, January 7, 2021 – Bittium will join the more than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world at CES 2021 – the first all-digital CES show on January 11-14, 2021. At the event Bittium showcases its R&D innovations for next generation vehicle development, including the advanced Android™ Automotive reference design for intelligent HMI (Human Machine Interface) as well as secure solutions for vehicle management and connectivity.  Bittium welcomes event visitors to the virtual booth and the demonstration of the reference design during January 12-14.

"As an engineering partner, we at Bittium help to accelerate the automotive industry evolution and delivery of systems to the market by leveraging our expertise in both information security and development of Android and Linux based solutions as well as our over 30-year track record in wireless connectivity", explains Tommi Kangas, Senior Vice President of Bittium's Connectivity Solutions product and service area. "Our high-quality solutions and services help automotive industry suppliers to create secure, reliable, intelligent, and easy-to-use connected car systems. The goal is to make the driving experience as comfortable and safe as possible."

Bittium CES 2021 Highlights

At the virtual stand Bittium will showcase its R&D services for the automotive industry:

  • Secure solutions for vehicle management and connectivity - Connected car systems are increasingly becoming one of the decisive purchasing criteria when buying a new vehicle. This opens up a huge market potential for system designers and OEMs, but also increases the information security risks and the need for such knowhow. Bittium's solutions for information security enable easy remote monitoring and management of vehicles as well as security and privacy for the driver. For example, the management of OEM applications downloaded to a vehicle allows better control of the visual brand identity for the car manufacturer and updates for the software products included with the car. The management system developed for vehicle monitoring and management also supports the service providers, such as logistics companies and car rental agencies, in their vehicle management.
  • HMI development on Android Automotive platform: The second area of focus in Bittium's R&D services for the automotive industry is HMI development. During the event Bittium will demonstrate a reference design that includes a digital cluster and infotainment system built by using Rightware's Kanzi UI tools. The reference design has been enhanced by utilizing an AI based face analysis toolkit from Valossa, and by developing an adaptive HMI design to support the functionalities. Thanks to the driver monitoring and adaptive HMI, the vehicle adapts to the driver's behavior and needs. The goal is to reduce unnecessary distractions and improve road safety.
  • Android customization and integration services: Bittium's R&D experts support automotive industry suppliers in developing tailored and optimized Android based solutions for different customer needs starting from board-support-package software development all the way to full system level integration. For example, Bittium's Android Automotive reference design has been integrated with wireless Apple CarPlay and driver recognition for personalized user experience.

Virtual Exhibition Booth and Live Demonstration

The virtual stands are open January 12-14. Registered CES visitors are welcome to visit Bittium's booth where it is possible to discuss and schedule appointments for meetings and demonstrations with Bittium's experts.

During the event Bittium will also organize a live demonstration of the Android Automotive reference design that is open to all. The use cases presented during the demonstration will show how Bittium can improve the driving experience and safety through driver recognition, personalized user experience and information security.

Demonstration is organized:

  • January 12th at 5–6 pm CET+1 (10–11 am EST) and 11 pm - midnight CET+1 (4–5 pm EST)
  • January 13th at 5–6 pm CET+1 (10–11 am EST) and 11 pm - midnight CET+1 (4–5 pm EST)
