JOT AUTOMATION GROUP PLC TO JOIN AN ONLINE MARKETPLACE


JOT Automation Group Plc has bought a 20% share in the Californian company Fasct-factory Inc. which is currently starting web sales activities for production equipment.

Fastfactory is an electric global marketing and sales site for automation equipment manufacturers, suppliers and system integrators. Fastfactory facilitates and speeds up the designing of production automation, as well as the purchase of equipment and even systems.

In addition to JOT Automation Group, Fastfactory Inc. includes a number of leading automation equipment manufacturers and equipment integrators in the industry. The company is expected to start its operations by the end of this year.

The objective of the Fastfactory project is to significantly speed up the deliveries and service relating to automation solutions. Fastfactory is expected to become an important commercial site for several tasks from specifying the automation equipment to managing their order and delivery processes. Fastfactory will utilise the technologies of e-commerce, enabling speedy communications between the networked parties.

"In the future, Fastfactory will strengthen the marketing and sales of JOT products to our present and future customers. This new commercial site will make the products and ser-vices of JOT globally available to all designers and buyers of production automation. Our competitive ability will be improved because we will be better prepared to meet the ever-shortening lead times. On this market site we will also be able to utilise the 3D visualisa-tion and configuration tools developed by Visual Components," says CEO Jorma Terent-jeff.

JOT Automation Group specializes in manufacturing and marketing production automa-tion for the electronics industry. The group has subsidiaries, partners and representatives in 13 countries. On June 30, 2000 the group employed 747 people and its net sales from January 1 to June 30, 2000 came to 75.7 million euros. The company's shares are listed on the Helsinki Exchanges.
