ELEKTROBIT HAS EXPANDED ITS SERIES 60 COLLABORATION AGREEMENT WITH NOKIA

Elektrobit announced today that it has expanded its Series 60 collaboration agreement with Nokia. Elektrobit will be one of the first Series 60 Boutiques in the Series 60 Product Creation Community and will extend from reference implementations to complete smart phone designs.

"Elektrobit, a Series 60 boutique is able to provide its customers improved cost effectiveness and shortened time-to-market on turnkey solutions for Wireless Terminal Development. Elektrobit offers turnkey terminal development services using Original Design Engineering (ODE) business model. In addition to turnkey terminal development, Elektrobit offers complete life cycle testing and automation solutions to its customers," said Arto Pietilä, Managing Director, Elektrobit Ltd.

"We are pleased to extend our collaboration with Elektrobit. Elektrobit has participated in various Series 60 implementation projects with developing full understanding of the platform and is already able to offer complete design capability on top of Series 60 reference implementation," said Jukka Riivari, Director, Terminal Platform Sales, Nokia.

Nokia launched the Series 60 Product Creation Community a year ago at 3GSM World Congress in Cannes including three types of memberships: Series 60 Competence Centers, Contractors, and Wireless Technology Providers. Now Nokia has expanded the community by introducing a new Series 60 Boutique member category consisting of independent software vendors that are able to provide the Series 60 licensees with complete design services.

Series 60 is currently one of the leading smart phone platforms in the world. It is licensed by some of the foremost mobile phone manufacturers including Siemens, Samsung, Panasonic, Sendo and Nokia. The success of the platform amongst the licensees ensures a large Series 60 device base and a diverse product portfolio. The licensees, together with operators and developers, drive innovation into the platform exploiting their vast experience and expertise in the mobile communication industry. This relentless innovation assures the solid competitiveness of the Series 60 Platform.

The Series 60 Platform encompasses all of the software, user interface (UI) and applications necessary to create a smart phone. Optimized for the Symbian OS, the Series 60 Platform enables significant creativity and differentiation by licensees. In addition, the common software platform ensures interoperability and application compatibility between the different licensees smart phones.
