EB HEIGHTENS VISIBILITY IN THE DEFENSE AND PUBLIC SAFETY SECTORS, SHOWING THE LATEST COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES AT IDEX 2009

FINLAND, February 19, 2009 - Recognized globally for delivering wireless innovation and value, EB, Elektrobit Corporation (OMX: EBC1V) a developer of cutting-edge embedded technology solutions for automotive and wireless industries, will be introducing a number of new communications solutions for global defense and public safety markets, at International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX)  2009, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Focused on delivering value to the worldwide defense and public safety sectors, EB engineers customized communications solutions that turn telecommunications technology into value-driven, enriching experiences. By taking a collaborative approach with its customers - many of the world's leading technology vendors and defense-focused system integrators - EB is at the heart of delivering innovation that capitalizes on emerging communications and technology trends.

At IDEX 2009, in Hall 12, Stand A31, EB will raise its presence in the global defense communications market by highlighting a number of new solutions, including:

- A robust, ruggedized Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications system. This system, already in the beta phase with one European Air Force, is poised for use by multiple defense operations, globally - as it enables all IP communications in the most difficult environments.

- Customizable mobile WiMAX base station framework technologies that can be tailored to meet defense-specific requirements. Complemented with 3rd party components, EB's mobile WiMAX base station framework will be offered in multiple solution concepts, including:

-Deployable Network Node: high capacity, rapid deployment of a mobile network in a site-less environment. Examples include: emergency locations, integration in defense/public safety vehicles (tanks, police cars, fire trucks).

-Relay Base Station: fast to build and cost efficient to deploy; this system could be used in coverage and capacity gaps. Examples include: underground and special conditions, including public safety and defense environments.

- Solutions for integrated satellite-terrestrial communications, including a smartphone reference design and a connectivity module proof of concept, offering first responders, as well as government and defense officials seamless connectivity between the satellite and next generation wireless network to help solve critical communication and business continuity challenges.

"EB is focused on bringing high-speed, secure voice and data communications to defense and public safety officials, globally," said Ari Virtanen, Executive Vice President, Wireless Solutions, EB. "Our defense and public safety solutions shown at IDEX 2009 enable system integrators, original equipment manufacturers and technology vendors to expand their product portfolios and gain access to next-generation solutions that truly push traditional industry boundaries."

IDEX is one of the world's largest exhibitions showcasing systems, equipment and services for all three defense environments, land, sea and air. In its 9th year, IDEX has become renowned for assembling the broadest range of suppliers, delegations, industry analysts and military strategists and has gained an enviable reputation as one of the world's foremost venues for defense business.
