Elektrobit (EB) opens automotive software Innovation Lab in Silicon Valley

New development center to spur collaboration among EB, carmakers and tech companies for connected and autonomous driving solutions

LAS VEGAS (CES 2015. North Hall Booth #2107), January 5, 2015 - Elektrobit (EB) today announced it is opening a development center in the San Francisco-Bay area to extend and establish the company's software and systems innovations for in-car connectivity and autonomous driving.

"The Silicon Valley has long been an innovation hub. The top technology companies - including many of our partners and customers - are headquartered in or have a strong presence here, and countless technologies and trends are established in the Valley," said Alexander Kocher, President Automotive Business Segment at EB. "As the pace of automotive innovation continues to increase, it is critical for EB to have an office where it all happens, which will enable us to innovate at an even more rapid pace and better serve our customers."

Automotive investment in the Silicon Valley has grown dramatically over the past decade, with leading carmakers and automotive technology suppliers all having established facilities in the region.

The EB Automotive Innovation Lab will focus on research and development associated with furthering the company's software solutions toward connected and autonomous driving. Learning from, collaborating with and contributing to the vibrant and innovative community of technology companies in the Silicon Valley is the next logical step for EB to build the software and systems needed by the automotive industry in the future. To this end, EB will build a team of engineers dedicated to working with emerging technologies and involved in research and pre-development activities with EB customers located in the Silicon Valley. The company will also explore partnerships with local companies with technologies that complement EB's software offerings.

EB - whose HMI, navigation, driver assistance and electronic control unit software powers more than 75 million vehicles worldwide - expects to open the Automotive Software Innovation Lab Silicon Valley in early 2015.
