Sophisticated, updated navigation and predictive-driving solutions from EB to pave way for automated driving
LAS VEGAS (CES 2015, North Hall Booth #2107), January 5, 2015 - Elektrobit (EB), a leading developer of cutting-edge embedded technology solutions for the automotive and wireless industries, announced today at CES 2015 it is paving the way for the future of autonomous vehicles in a demonstration of advanced navigation and predictive driving software with automotive OS leader and BlackBerry subsidiary, QNX Software Systems . The two companies are showcasing a vision for safe and comfortable driving in two state-of-the-art demonstration vehicles that integrate the latest technologies in navigation and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), giving CES attendees a unique opportunity to "test drive" automated safety features for next-generation cars.
The QNX booth #2231 features a technology concept car based on a modified Maserati Quattroporte equipped with Elektrobit's EB street director navigation software and the latest version of EB Assist ADASISv2 electronic horizon solution with new road sign-detection functionality. The EB Assist solution is integrated with the car's QNX-based digital instrument cluster to show the current speed limit, display alerts if the car exceeds the limit, and offer speed recommendations for upcoming curves. The cluster can also display turn-by-turn directions provided by EB street director, which runs on the car's infotainment system, which is based on the QNX CAR™ Platform for Infotainment.
The two companies have also joined forces in integrating EB street director navigation software and the EB Assist ADASISv2 electronic horizon solution into the QNX® reference vehicle based on a modified Jeep Wrangler. The vehicle features on-board cameras that can sense a driving scene as well as a virtual road trip displayed on a 12-foot screen for all CES attendees to see. The electronic horizon solution integrates map data and predictive-driving recommendations during the virtual drive and provides potentially life-saving alerts that are displayed by the QNX-based instrument cluster.
