Bittium exhibits SafeMove® Security Solutions that meet the cyber security challenges in healthcare at HETT Show 2017 exhibition

Cyber security is in a key theme at HETT Show 2017 in London as healthcare organizations enter the digital era

Oulu, Finland, September 26, 2017 – Bittium SafeMove® security solutions help healthcare organizations to meet current cyber security challenges. The software will be exhibited at HETT Show (Healthcare Efficiency Through Technology) to be held at Olympia Exhibition Centre in London, United Kingdom on 27th September 2017. The HETT Show is a part of the larger UK Health Show , which is the UK’s largest one day healthcare event. The key theme at the event is a wide variety of technology, including cyber security and data analytics solutions, as the healthcare organizations embrace the digital era. At the event Bittium will present its SafeMove® solutions, and demonstrate how they help protect the confidentiality of healthcare records; build strong cyber defense environments; and increase the efficiency of healthcare processes whilst providing an excellent end user experience.

The cyber-attacks that took place last spring affecting multiple NHS organizations in England have raised cyber security as a top priority in many events and organizations. “Strong cyber defense in the organization cannot be established with a single solution, but requires a multi-layered security solution to effectively detect and prevent the various types of threats. Bittium SafeMove® solutions play an important role in creating secure connectivity and cyber defense”, says Juha Eskelin, Head of SafeMove® solutions at Bittium. “A good indication of SafeMove’s solid information security is that none of the NHS Trusts using SafeMove suffered from the Wannacry ransomware attack last spring.

The healthcare sector in the UK, as well as other parts in Europe, is facing enormous pressure to increase efficiency. Secure and simple access to electronic patient records at the point of care is very important for clinicians and care workers, in order to allow sufficient amount of time for treating patients. It is also increasingly important to be able to treat patients effectively outside of the hospital area. Bittium SafeMove® Mobile VPN software intelligently protects organizations’ data access via mobile devices and can automatically choose the desired security level, e.g. based on the available network and operating environment. The SafeMove® VPN software provides high level data protection and its intelligence makes it easy-to-use for the end-user. With SafeMove®, network connections are established intelligently and securely based on central policy, leaving no room for user error. At the same time, health workers have a great user experience, leaving them more time to provide essential care.

Products and solutions exhibited at the event are:

  • Bittium SafeMove® Mobile VPN software enables the utilization of all IP based applications and networks by securing the connections between the work station and corporate services before Windows logon. With Bittium SafeMove, for instance home care workers are allowed to have full access to the same systems and applications they would have on a hospital desktop, enabling secure and real-time access to patient records at the point of care.
  • Bittium SafeMove® Analytics is an advanced monitoring and reporting module that helps organizations to monitor network connectivity and performance to improve productivity and user experience. The Analytics tool continuously gathers connectivity data such as connectivity status, speed, throughput and bytes transferred, network type and Wi-Fi network information. In addition, the new security features of the software can immediately report possible security deviations in the mobile devices used by employees. This makes it possible to react to cyber threats without delays, e.g. by blocking the device which reported the deviation from the corporate network during the investigation.
  • Bittium SafeMove® Zone is an application and background software solution designed for Android devices to improve the safety of lone and remote workers. Its features include location tracking; geofencing; emergency button and acknowledgment requests and confirmations. The device management and analytics tools enable the secure collection, transfer and analysis of sensor based data. The solution can be complemented with a wearable device for additional sensor support. The device management and analytics tools enable the collection, secure transfer and analytics of sensor based data. With the help of SafeMove Zone, e.g. home care workers can raise alerts unnoticed in case they feel threatened or face hostility in a care situation. The application can also independently detect if there are potential security threats arising from employee behaviour, and automatically send acknowledgment request to the employee via the application to confirm that the situation is under control.

Bittium's products and solutions are exhibited at stand H146 in Grand hall Olympia. Further information about Bittium SafeMove® offering for the healthcare sector can be found on our web site at https://www.bittium.com/products__services/safemove_solutions#bittium_safemove_for_healthcare .
