Oulu, Finland, May 21, 2018 – Bittium will exhibit its secure and easy-to-use Bittium SafeMove® remote access solutions at Utility Week Live, to be held in NEC hall, Birmingham, the United Kingdom May 22–23, 2018. Secure, seamless and uninterrupted connectivity is of utmost importance for mobile field workers, who depend on access to networked applications and services outside of the regular office environment. With Bittium SafeMove® solutions, the field workers will always have a secure and easy access to the needed applications and they stay connected even during possible network breaks.

UK Power Networks has been a SafeMove® customer since 2013. The now-published customer reference story introduces a project which started in 2015 on further optimising the connectivity with the aim of improving the productivity of 2700 (today close to 3600) field workers. A key area of investigation was how to measure and improve mobile operator coverage and reduce mobile data costs. With the help of Bittium SafeMove® Mobile VPN & Analytics software; and enabling BT Wi-Fi service, the overall field connectivity rate improved from 76 percent to over 95 percent and general mobile data charges were reduced by up to 25 percent. Product and solutions exhibited at the event:

• Bittium SafeMove® Mobile VPN software enables the utilization of all IP based applications and networks by securing the connections between the work station and corporate services before Windows logon. With Bittium SafeMove®, mobile field workers are allowed to send and receive job orders, map information and service status updates in real time. The new visual user interface empowers the end-user to understand and potentially fix connectivity issues directly, allowing them to be more productive in the field.
• Bittium SafeMove® Analytics is an advanced monitoring and reporting module that helps authorities to monitor network connectivity and performance to improve productivity and user experience. The Analytics tool continuously gathers connectivity data such as connectivity status, speed, throughput and bytes transferred, network type and Wi-Fi network information. In addition, the new security features of the software can immediately report possible security deviations in the mobile devices used by employees. This makes it possible to react to cyber threats without delays, e.g. by blocking the device which reported the deviation from the corporate network during the investigation.
